Foot overbridge connecting South Campus and Dhaula Kuan metro stations opens

A foot overbridge connecting the Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus station to the Airport Express Line’s Dhaula Kuan station was thrown open to public on Saturday, said Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson.

With the FOB now open, commuters can easily interchange trains between the Airport Express Line and the South Campus station on the Pink Line, the spokesperson said. “It will be a crucial connecting link between the passengers of both the lines as many commuters travelling to and fro from Terminal 3 will be able to take the FOB and interchange trains,” said DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal.

22 travelators installed

For the convenience of commuters, a “record 22 travelators” have been installed, the DMRC said.

“The FOB is also equipped with all the safety and security features like CCTV cameras, lighting and PA systems. The CCTV cameras installed at strategic locations shall be monitored round the clock to ensure the security of passengers. There will also be space for display panel and benches have also been provided at some locations,” added Mr. Dayal. Prior to the opening of this FOB, the Airport Line was connected to the Dwarka Sector 21 station on the Blue Line and the New Delhi station on the Yellow Line. However, now with a link to the Pink Line, commuters can directly travel to other areas in the Capital.

“Passengers from all parts of the city such as Mayur Vihar in the east, Ashram, Lajpat Nagar, South Extension, Moti Bagh in south Delhi and Naraina in west will be able to use the FOB via the South Campus station and take the Airport Express Line to reach the airport,” he said.
