A Central Reserve Police Force officer allegedly shot another dead and then ended his life at their residence on Tughlaq Road late on Friday, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Eish Singhal said a call was received at 10.40 p.m. about firing at 61, Lodhi Estate. When police reached the spot, they were informed that a Sub-Inspector (SI) rank officer shot an officer in the rank of Inspector at their residence following an argument.

The SI then allegedly shot himself dead, said the police. The two bodies were moved to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for post-mortem.

Both lived in the same accommodation, according to police.

The police said that the post-mortem will be conducted after a COVID-19 test. A case under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code was registered and further investigation was underway, they added.
