Two men were arrested on Monday for allegedly supplying pistols to criminals in Delhi, the police said on Wednesday. They claimed to have seized 21 pistols and 21 magazines from the accused.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah said the accused have been identified as counsins Vineet Kumar (33) and Ram Kumar (31). Both accused belong to Aligarh.

Tip-off

The police recently arrested several arms suppliers from Aligarh, who allegedly revealed the involvement of the accused in the trade. The cousins were arrested on Monday evening following a tip-off.

“They were arrested from near Salimgarh flyover, and the arms and ammunition were found in their bags,” Mr. Kushwah said.

During interrogation, the accused told the police that they got involved in supplying arms in 2008. They are also accused in an attempt to murder case over property dispute.

“Vineet and Ram procured arms from Madhya Pradesh and parts of Uttar Pradesh to supply to criminals in the Delhi and the National Capital Region,” the senior officer added.
