The Delhi Police busted an online casino racket and arrested 14 persons in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar, the police said on Monday.
The police have seized ₹39,130, 10 computers, having an Internet connection, a diary and a calculator among other items from the flat.
Amit alias Guttan, owner of the casino parlour, and his manager, Neeraj, were arrested along with their 12 customers, the police said.
The accused were released on bail as they were booked under bailable sections of Delhi Public Gambling Act, they added.
A senior police officer said that they were getting complaints from the locals regarding an illegal activity taking place inside the building.
“A team raided the flat and found 12 people playing online casino on computers. The entire set up inside the flat was for gambling purposes,” said a police officer.
WhatsApp group
The accused had made a WhatsApp group where they entertained only regular customers or those having a reference from any of the existing members, the police said.
They used to gamble through online games and the winner was given 32 times of his amount, the police added.
