An Inspector posted with the public grievance cell of Delhi Police’s west district was suspended and arrested after he was found involved in a case of human trafficking and cheating, the police said on Monday.

A Sub-Inspector has also been suspended and teams have been formed to arrest him. Both of them posed as officers from the Crime Branch, the police added.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Outer) M.N. Tiwari said that Inspector Dharmendar Dangi has been suspended and arrested.

Action was taken after a man approached Paschim Vihar police claiming that a few Crime Branch officers have taken ₹15 lakh from him when he had gone to meet a travel agent in a hotel for getting his visa papers processed, the investigating officers said.

During the meeting, two men came and introduced themselves as Crime Branch officers. They accused both the travel agent and the complainant of being involved in human trafficking and took the money, the police said.
