Cop clings to bonnet to avoid getting run over

Motorist did not stop and drove for nearly 100-150 metres with police on bonnet

In a bid to escape being challaned, a motorist nearly hit an on-duty traffic policeman and drove several metres with the man clinging to the vehicle’s bonnet on Wednesday.

Karn Katpalia, a resident of DDA flats in Dwarka, was arrested later.

Mr. Katpalia was driving on the wrong side of the road near Signature Towers on Wednesday when a traffic policemen at a signal flagged him down. Mr. Katpalia pulled over and was asked to show his documents. At this, the Delhi resident started bragging about his contacts in the Gurugram police and refused to show his papers.

Case registered

When the policeman insisted, Mr. Katpalia went back to his car and tried to escape. He nearly ran over the traffic policeman when he tried to stop him. To avoid being run over, the policeman jumped and clung on to the bonnet. However, Mr. Katpalia did not stop and drove for nearly 100-150 metres. He was stopped later and arrested.

A case has been registered against him.
