Constable, two friends assault SHO

A Delhi police constable and two of his friends were arrested for allegedly beating up the Station House Officer of a police station in West Delhi today. According to police, the incident took place around 3.20 am when the accused, Anand and Pushpendra, were challaned by a traffic team in Dwarka Mor area.

They then contacted their friend Sachin, a constable in North Delhi, said a senior police officer. They went to the SHO of Uttam Nagar police station, Bhagwaan Singh and demanded immediate action against the traffic officials.

When the SHO refused, the trio threatened him. The SHO asked the trio to leave the police station following which the three assaulted him, he added. The three were booked under sections 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of IPC and were arrested immediately, said the officer. —PTI
