The Delhi Congress on Wednesday held a demonstration to demand the resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal following the arrest and resignation of Jitender Tomar for allegedly possessing fake graduation and law degrees.

Congress cadres marched towards the Delhi Secretariat shouting slogans such as “ farji mantri hua giraftar—istifa do Kejriwal”; “ Farji Mantri—Farji Sarkar, Istifa do Kejriwal” among others before being stopped by the police barricades near the ITO crossing.

Giving 15 days’ ultimatum to Mr. Kejriwal, Delhi unit chief Ajay Maken said the government should appoint a Lokpal or Lokayukta within 15 days or else the party will come out on the streets to wage a long battle.

“Arvind Kejriwal, who came to power on the plank of honesty, integrity and transparency, shielded his guilty Law Minister Jitender Tomar for two months till the police arrested him though it had become clear when an affidavit filed in the Delhi High Court proved that his degrees were fake.”

He added that the appointment of Standing Counsel and Public Prosecutor made by the former Law Minister should be cancelled as Mr. Tomar’s own degrees were allegedly forged.
