A final-year student of BA (English) at Ram Lal Anand College, in South Campus, was allegedly molested by a sweeper inside the college premises on Tuesday.

The police arrested the accused, identified as Ranjan. He was employed as a sweeper in the college for the past two years.

Reports matter

The police said the girl was going to the washroom when the accused followed her and later forcibly held her hand.

The woman in her complaint told the police that the accused first held her hand and then tried to pull her towards himself.

She managed to free herself and reported the matter to the college principal who then informed the police. He was nabbed by the college security staff and handed over to police following the complaint.

“We have registered a case under IPC Section 354 [molestation] at South Campus police station. The accused was arrested from the college,” said Milind Dumbre, DCP (South-West).
