Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday visited the Delhi State Cancer Institute. He announced additional space of 6.5 acres for the centre and promised to clear in 10 days all pending proposals for additional equipment required by it. He was accompanied by Health Minister Satyendar Jain.
Mr. Kejriwal inspected the facilities at the institute and appreciated the “tremendous work” being done there, said a statement issued by the government.
“He inaugurated a 24-bed semi-private ward and a free computerised BP/pulse recording system,” the statement said, adding that the additional space of 6.5 acres will help the institute add 1,000 more beds exclusively for cancer patients.
He said a policy should be evolved giving preference to cancer patients from Delhi, the release said. He announced that around 80% of facilities will soon be reserved for Delhiites, who at present get only 40% of facilities at the hospital.
