A steady wind blew across the Capital on Tuesday as overcast conditions prevailed giving many the hope of rain. However, there was no relief as the maximum temperature settled three notches above the season’s average at 42.4 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature settled at 30 degrees Celsius while humidity oscillated between 56 and 24 per cent, informed the MeT department.

The winds left a carpet of yellow in parts of Lutyen's Delhi as falling laburnum flowers made for a picturesque splash of colour.

The hot winds are likely to continue on Wednesday with the weatherman predicting dust storms in some parts of the city with a partly cloudy sky throughout the day. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 42 and 29 degrees respectively, read the forecast.

Palam continued to be the hottest area in the city with the station recording a maximum temperature of 44. 2 degrees Celsius.
