Civic bodies open 24x7 waterlogging helpline

Rain and waterlogging over the past three days has prompted the civic bodies to press their resources into action. It was announced that their waterlogging helpline will be opened as 24x7 service in a few days, given the unusual pre-monsoon showers this time.

Generally from July 1

The helpline is usually opened as a 24x7 service from July 1, after monsoon hits Delhi and waterlogging cases rise. However, periodic showers since Sunday have led to a spike in the complaints.

“We have been attending to complaints regarding flooded roads, streets and parks and have ordered officials to open the helpline services now instead of July 1,” said North Delhi Mayor Preeti Aggarwal, adding that she has ordered officials to inspect areas where waterlogging has been a problem over the last few days. These spots will be inspected and fixed before the monsoon. For registering complaints relating to clogged drains or water collection on roads, residents can call the municipal bodies’ central control room numbers —23212700, 23220010, 23220016, or 23220037.
