‘Don’t split the vote between AAP, Cong’

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday appealed to voters to choose the AAP and not to split the vote between his party and the Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking at the inauguration of sewer-laying projects in Kakrola, Mr. Kejriwal listed out the works done by his government in Delhi since coming to power in 2015. He added that if the AAP, as opposed to the BJP, had won the seven Lok Sabha seats of Delhi, they would have stopped the sealing drive and the hike of metro fares.

“Remember on the voting day that you have to vote for development of Delhi. And yes, don’t vote for Congress at all, if you vote for Congress it will strengthen Narendra Modi. Don’t let your vote get split and give all seven MPs to the AAP,” he said.

Alliance talks

Mr. Kejriwal’s comments come in the wake of talks between the AAP and the Congress for a potential alliance in the Lok Sabha elections. While the AAP has not officially ruled out the possibility, it has announced its intention to contest all seats in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Goa and Chandigarh.

Meanwhile, the project inaugurated on Sunday would prevent the discharge of sewage into the Yamuna, with the laying of 66.87 km of sewer lines, from the Kakrola group of colonies, a statement said.
