The Centre will rejuvenate around a dozen small waterbodies connected to the Yamuna at a cost of ₹9 crore, said Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari on Tuesday.

“The BJP Centre views as a serious concern the issue of rejuvenating the Yamuna as well as its banks. The Delhi Development Authority has begun work in this regard already,” Mr. Tiwari said.

“The work of awarding tender for the rejuvenation of 11 water bodies and banks between G.T. Road and Signature Bridge is under way,” he said, adding that the project will be completed within a month of being started.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said that while the Delhi government had not been able to fix the boundary of “even a single unauthorised colony in the last five years”, the DDA did it for “400 colonies within 10 days of the resolution passed by the Centre — to give ownership rights to 40 lakh people living in these colonies”.
