The Delhi Police arrested a senior editor of a TV news channel under the charges of outraging women’s modesty. Two sisters who were travelling with their family complained that the accused clicked selfies with them against their will, the police said on Thursday.

Incident on flight

The man, identified as Vivek Narayan, Executive Editor with the Times Now TV news channel was travelling on an Indigo flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi.

He reportedly clicked a few selfies of the two women sitting next to him on the flight. When the women objected and asked him to delete the pictures, he refused to do and clicked a few more.

After the flight landed in Delhi, a matter was raised with the security agencies. The man was held and handed over to IGI police.

“We have registered a case under IPC Section 509 [Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman]. The man was arrested and later released on bail. The case is under investigation,” said a senior police officer.
