Body of woman found stuffed inside suitcase

A 28-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly killing his 26-year-old live-in partner and trying to dump her partially decomposed body by stuffing it into a suitcase in Khora, Ghaziabad, on Tuesday night.

The police said that the woman was murdered around two days ago, and the accused tried to dump the body on Tuesday night.

The police said that Jyoti Verma, from Ludhiana in Punjab, lived in a rented apartment in Vandana Enclave with her partner Shivam Vidhi. She worked in a salon in Delhi.

The police said that the incident came to light when the accused was taking the body, stuffed inside a suitcase, in a car. A few locals stopped the car after noticing a foul smell coming from the vehicle. When they asked to see what was inside the suitcase, the accused fled leaving the car behind.

The locals found the decomposing body and alerted the police. The body has been sent for post-mortem. The accused was arrested on Wednesday from Khora.

“He told us that Jyoti was upset over his drinking habit and they often used to fight. He alleged that two days ago he returned home to find her hanging from the ceiling fan and decided not to tell anyone and dump her body,” said a police officer.
