A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders met Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum concerning a host of issues, including a circular related to the media issued by the Delhi government, and the compensation announced for farmers over crop loss and for the family of the DTC driver killed in a recent road-rage incident.
“We requested the L-G to seek a report from the Delhi Chief Secretary on issues like the anti-media circular, inadequate and irrational compensation to farmers and the Delhi government’s dual standards in awarding compensation to the families of government employees dying in line of duty,” said party unit chief Satish Upadhyay.
He said they also brought to the L-G’s notice the repeated involvement of various Delhi Ministers and Aam Aadmi Party MLAs in controversial incidents over the past three months.
“Perhaps this is the motivation why the Delhi government has brought out a circular to throttle media freedom,” he added.
