The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Executive Committee’s meeting concluded here on Saturday with the adoption of a pledge to bag all the seven Lok Sabha seats in the Capital again and support for the party’s state chief Manoj Tiwari’s “fight against arbitrary sealing”.
Held at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, the meeting was chaired by Mr. Tiwari. A statement said that BJP national general secretary Anil Jain put forward the party’s road map for victory in the 2019 General Elections before the Executive Committee.
Pradesh in-charge Shyam Jaju and co-incharge Tarun Chugh presented guidelines on organisational matters. Union Minister Vijay Goel, BJP national vice-president Dushyant Kumar Gautam, Leader of Opposition (LOP) Vijender Gupta and MPs Ramesh Bidhuri, Meenakshi Lekhi, Udit Raj were among the attendees.
“A political resolution, as presented by Pradesh general secretary Rajesh Bhatia in the meeting that was seconded by LOP Vijender Gupta and national vice-president Dushyant Kumar Gautam was passed after a brief discussion. All the three leaders mentioned about the failures of the AAP government and the frustration of the people in their address,” the statement said.
“In another resolution passed in the meeting, the members expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narender Modi’s government for gifts to Delhi like the Delhi-Meerut Highway, Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, the Ordinance on Triple Talaq for social change in the country, formation of OBC Commission and for giving a sense of social security to the Schedule Castes,” the statement said further.
Campaigns for 2019 polls
In his address, Mr. Tiwari, called upon party workers to start campaigns like ‘Booth Chalo-Sangharsh Karo ’ and ‘ Kendra Sarkar ki Uplabdhiyon ki Charcha Antim Vyakti Tak Le Jayein’ for the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, the statement said.
Mr. Tiwari also said that the party would have to stage demonstrations at the district and mandal levels on the failures of the AAP government and will especially have to expose the betrayal of the Kejriwal government with the people of rural areas and unauthorised colonies of Delhi.
Speaking on the issue of sealing, the Delhi BJP president alleged that he found that the monitoring committee “is working arbitrarily and sealing the properties without notice and disregarding the amendments to Master Plan and the BJP opposes it strongly”.
“We very well understand the problems of the people of Delhi related to sealing. Delhi BJP will fight to stop the arbitrary sealing,” Mr. Tiwari said.
