A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a slew of pro-poor initiatives for the residents of poll-bound Delhi, the Delhi Congress broke its silence and called both Mr. Modi and the BJP ‘anti-poor’ in practice.
Referring to Mr. Modi’s promise that if the BJP was voted to power it would ensure 24-hour power supply in Delhi, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Arvinder Singh said it was actually during the Congress rule that Delhi was getting 24-hour power supply.
“But ever since the BJP came to power, people are getting power supply for just about six hours every day,” Mr. Singh alleged.
Taking a dig at the BJP’s promise of building in-situ flats for those living in JJ clusters and Mr. Modi’s dream of making Delhi slum-free by 2022, Mr. Singh said the Congress government was the first to clear in-situ construction of flats to rehabilitate residents of JJ clusters.
