Targeting the Aam Aadmi Party government over the controversy surrounding party leader Kumar Vishwas, Bharatiya Janata Party leaders on Tuesday called upon women in Delhi to send emails to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with a message to “change his mindset and respect women”.
“Women of Delhi should email every day to Mr. Kejriwal with a message: AAP Get Well Soon, Change Your Mindset & Respect Women,” said Delhi BJP Chief Satish Upadhayay.
On Tuesday, party workers led by members of the Mahila Morcha also demonstrated near Mr. Kejriwal’s residence over the issue. The party leaders accused the AAP government of “double speak” on women’s issues.
“For Mr. Kejriwal, women security and their rights are just an issue to garner votes. Be it the Nirbhaya case or the recent case of a girl in Moga (Punjab), Mr. Kejriwal’s Party lights candles just for political benefits,” said Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha President Kamaljeet Sherawat.
“The long silence of Mr. Vishwas and his mentor Mr. Kejriwal in this woman’s matter indicates their ignorance was intended to suppress the matter. They wanted media to play down the issue and when media didn’t oblige even they are being accused of being anti-AAP,” she added.
