In a build-up to the Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF), a best of DIFF 2014 film-screening is being organised at the India International Centre from October 8.

The fourth edition of DIFF will be held at McLeod Ganj in Dharamshala between November 5 and 8.

The screening is a part of the festival’s goal to conduct special outreach programmes to showcase the best of independent cinema for various communities to engage with.

The screening will begin with Switzerland-based Mano Khalil’s Beekeeper on October 8. It is the story of a beekeeper who lost everything in the Turkish-Kurdish war.

On October 9, A Gesar Bard's Tale will be screened. Directed by Donagh Coleman and Lharigtso, the story revolves around a 13-year-old-boy named Dawa, whose life changes when through a series of visions he gets the gift telling Tibet’s King Gesar’s epic story.

Chimeras , directed by Mika Mattila, will be screened on October 12. It portrays two minds in identity crisis — the contemporary art giant Wang Guangyi and the up-and-coming photographer Liu Gang. Chimeras freeze frames China at a moment when its aspirations are at war with its sense of identity.

To Singapore, With Love will be screened on October 14. Directed by Tan Pin Pin, it is the search for the displaced souls of Singapore — different generations of Singaporean political exiles who have not been able to come home.

The screenings are open to IIC members as well as the general public each day. They will begin at 6 p.m. Seats are available on first come, first served basis.
