Baijal chairs meet on drain rejuvenation

DDA made detailed presentation on rejuvenation of drains

Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal on Wednesday chaired a meeting on the development and rehabilitation of two trunk drains in Dwarka.

A detailed presentation, the Raj Niwas said in a statement, was also made by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) regarding the rejuvenation of the drains at Dwarka with the L-G being informed that the project will help in improving the environment, cleaning the drain and overall area development.

The length of one of these drains, TD-2, is 5.3 km, while that of TD-5 is 3.8 km, the Raj Niwas said. The L-G was also apprised about the objectives of the project, that is, sewage and storm water management.

“The L-G advised the DDA to develop green corridors, cycle tracks, shaded walkways, water cascades to assist natural water treatment, a children’s park with adequate street furniture, lights and civic amenities along with drains to make them buzzing public spaces,” the statement said.

Their connect with the community, the statement further said quoting Mr. Baijal, should also be ensured to create interest of the neighbourhood.

“This will help in developing complete urban ecosystem by substantially improving local environment. The stated that rejuvenated drains connected with community can uplift the urban environs and add value to the vicinity,” the statement added.
