A senior government official said that as many as 400 volunteers, who started awareness drive at 10 a.m., also distributed pamphlets — ‘ Ab Bus Karein’ - ‘Car—Free Day’ — to people and requested them to participate in the programme in large numbers.

The awareness drive ended at 4 p.m. which went through several areas — Ballimaran, Matia Mahal and Darya Ganj etc — where volunteers encouraged the people to use public transport between Red Fort and India on October 22, the official said.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will also participate in a ‘Cycle Rally’ to be held on the day of ‘Car—Free Day’

Government will deploy as many as 20 DTC buses as shuttle service on this stretch. Besides, government will also arrange e-rickshaws on this route so that people don’t have to face problem, official added.— PTI
