A group of armed men allegedly robbed a cab driver of his car near Netaji Subhash Place metro station on Sunday, the police said.

Dhananjay (19) was on his way home in east Delhi after dropping a man in Pitampura when the incident was reported at around 3 a.m., they said.

The victim had a private car but used it as a taxi.

When Dhananjay was near Netaji Subhash Place metro station, a car overtook him and forced him to halt.

Following this, a group of armed men came out and overpowered him at gunpoint, the police said. The miscreants robbed his car and fled the spot, they added.

“Soon after the incident, Dhananjay informed a police patrolling team. The accused also took away his mobile phone,” said a senior police officer

A case of robbery has been registered at NSP police station. “We are scanning CCTV of the possible routes taken by the robbers,” the officer said.
