The Delhi police unearthed another illegal firework manufacturing unit in Bawana industrial area run by Manoj Jain and Lalit Goyal, accused in Bawana fire tragedy, police said on Monday.

If suppliers of the explosive materials were found operating without a valid license then they will be charged with criminal liability in the case, said the police.

The court has extended the police custody of Mr. Jain by two days and Mr. Goyal is already in custody for two days, added the police. “Both the business partners will be questioned about the suppliers. We are also tracking down the retailers to whom they were supplying the crackers,” said a senior police officer.

Mr. Jain is not cooperating and has refused to provide the password to unlock his laptop and mobile phones, the officer added. Through the telecom service provider, they have received over 500 contacts from his call records.

During the investigation, the police also found another factory operating in Sector 5 of Bawana industrial area, the same place where the fire tragedy happened.

“We have seized huge quantity of raw material used to manufacture fireworks stored in the factory. The factory was locked just after the fire tragedy was reported at another factory. The factory has been seized,” said a senior police officer.

The police is also seeking information about the suppliers outside the city. During this, the police came to know that one of the factory owners has expired. Following this, the police gave a notice to the deceased’s wife to appear before the investigating officer.

At the time of the incident, Mr. Goyal was present at the gate of the factory. Without informing either the police or the fire department, he fled the spot, said a police official.
