GNIDA had marked the structure unsafe

A three-storey building in Greater Noida’s Shahberi village, where a building collapse claimed nine lives on Tuesday night, tilted on Saturday evening following a heavy downpour.

Asked to vacate

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Ashish Srivastava confirmed the incident and said that five to six families living in the building were immediately asked to vacate the premises.

“The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority, while inspecting, had also marked the building unsafe and had issued a notice regarding the same,” Mr. Srivastava said.

Officials from the GNIDA were inspecting the area on Wednesday with their team to ascertain whether the buildings in the premises were safe to live. “Notices will be issued to the builders after inspection depending on the results. If the residents will be asked to vacate the houses then the builders are likely to return the money,” the official said.
