Amit Shah reaches out to Dalit voters

January 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Wooing Dalit voters, who voted en masse for the Aam Aadmi Party in the last Assembly polls, Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah on Friday attacked the AAP saying that they managed to bring in no change when they were in power for 49 days.

For the poor

At a rally organised for Dalit workers of the party at the Talkatora stadium, Mr. Shah invoked the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan and Jan Dhan Yojna launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to impress upon the gathering that these schemes had changed the lives of the poor.

Better performance

The rally, organised by North-West Delhi MP Udit Raj, was an effort to pool in efforts to ensure a better performance in the 12 reserved constituencies.

The BJP had managed to win only two seats in the last elections while the AAP won nine.

“Mr. Modi is the first Prime Minister to pick a broom . He has given dignity to the job of cleaning,” said Mr. Shah.
