Alert cop saves woman from getting raped in bus

An alert policeman saved a 30-year-old mentally unstable woman from getting raped inside a parked bus in South Delhi’s Saket.

The assailant Dhiraj and a woman who, too, was present with him inside the bus at the time of the crime have been arrested, said a senior police officer.

The incident took place in Saket late Monday night. The victim, a vagabond, was roaming around aimlessly in the area when she was lured inside a parked bus.

She walked in, only to be pinned down by Dhiraj in a rape attempt while another woman stood and watched. The victim raised an alarm, which drew the attention of a constable.

He rushed to the spot to rescue the woman and arrest the others present inside the bus. The policeman also saw two men on a motorcycle flee as he approached the bus.

The identities of those two men are being ascertained as it is suspected that they were keeping a watch on anyone approaching and that they would have taken turns to sexually abuse the victim. Dhiraj is being questioned in a bid to identify the absconding duo.
