AI flight delayed over co-pilot’s oxygen mask

June 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - New Delhi:

A Delhi-bound Air India flight from Chennai was delayed on Saturday by nearly one hour as the co-pilot’s oxygen mask had to be changed at the last moment.

The flight was to take off from Chennai at 5.30 p.m.

“Flight AI-539 from Chennai to Delhi was held up for about an hour as the oxygen mask for the co-pilot had to be changed at the last minute,” the source said.

When contacted, an Air India spokesperson said the delay was due to late arrival of an incoming flight.

In a similar incident in April, the commander of Air India’s Kochi-bound flight had refused to operate the aircraft citing “dirty” oxygen mask.

By the time the airline managed to get a fresh mask for the commander, the flight had already been delayed by three hours. — PTI
