The Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on Friday published the electoral roll after revision, which stated that Delhi has 1,36,95,291 electors that is up 7% from the number of electors in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections when their number stood at 1,27,06,366.

Electors may increase

“Total electors during last general elections-2014 were 1,27,06,366 whereas electors as per final roll published on January 18, 2019 are 1,36,95,291 which is an increase of 9,88,925 [7.78%]. The electors are likely to increase further during continuous updation before the general election-2019,” the statement said.

The objective of the Special Summary Revision-2019, the CEO Delhi office said in a statement, was to get fresh enrolment (that is enrolling those who have attained the age of 18+) on the qualifying date of January 1, 2019, and giving “opportunities for correction in electors particulars and also to invite objections against any wrong inclusion in the Electoral Roll.”

According to the statement, the exercise was based on a house to house verification during the period from June 1, 2018, to June 30, 2018, by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for identification and removal of the dead/permanently shifted electors and inclusion of left out un-enrolled or prospective electors.

The CEO said a total number of 1,41,514 electors had been added and the names of 61,999 electors had been deleted from the electoral roll.

“Accordingly, 79,515 net electors have increased in the electoral roll during the Special Summary Revision-2019,” the statement said.

Total electors in the final electoral roll, as on January 18, 2019, stood at 1,36,95,291 which was 1,19,575 (or 0.87%) less than the total electors of 1,38,14,866 in the last final electoral roll published on January 10, 2018, the statement read.

“Names of 9,326 expired electors have been deleted from the electoral roll since the last final publication of the electoral roll held on January 10, 2018. The gender ratio of the electors registered in the final electoral roll has increased to 812 as compared to the gender ratio of 808 in the final roll last published...There has been a substantive increase in the gender ratio of voters of age-group 18-19,” the statement said.

The gender ratio had increased from 632 from last year to 706 in the present year, the statement added.
