Ryan murder case: Police torturing my client to confess crime, says advocate

The advocate of accused Ashok Kumar, arrested in connection with the murder of a Class II student of Ryan International School here, on Friday alleged that his client was implicated.

Advocate Mohit Verma, a member of Rohtak Bar Association, claimed that Mr. Kumar told him during their brief meeting in jail on Thursday that he was tortured by the police to confess to the crime.

“He told me that he did not commit the murder, and was threatened and tortured by the police to make the confession,” said Mr. Verma.

The advocate claimed that his client was near a water cooler when he heard the commotion, and the school principal and the two teachers asked him to lift the child and transport him to a car.

Influential person

“He changed his bloodstained clothes after the school principal told him to do so. It seems he has been implicated to protect some influential person. We hope more facts to emerge after the charge sheet is filed,” said Mr. Verma, who decided to represent the accused after the Gurugram and Sohna Bar Associations decided to boycott him.

Mr. Verma also welcomed the decision of the Haryana government to order a CBI probe into the case saying that it would help unravel the truth and help his client.
