A two-day fruit, vegetable and flower show by the All India Kitchen Garden Association (AIKGA) began at the Gulmohar Park Club here on Saturday.
The show, inaugurated by former chairperson of National Commission for Women Mohini Giri, is focussing on food preservation and nutrition and a number of competitions have been organised for the visitors.
“More than 12,000 varieties of plants, vegetables and fruits, spread across in 21 categories, including landscaping, pots and containers, ornamental plants, trey gardens, bottle gardens, cut fruits, vegetables and flower arrangements are on display during the two-day show,’’ said Bella Gupta, secretary AIKGA.
Apart from members of the AIKGA, participants include government organisations like the Delhi Development Authority, Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Public Works Department.
The theme of the show this year is ‘Colour and Aroma’. Grafted and non-grafted cacti, aromatic plants and herbs, decorative dahlias, vegetable carving and floral, human, animal and bird arrangements are on display, said Ms Gupta.
The prizes to the winners of various contests will be presented on Sunday.
