The Bharatiya Janata Party's rally against rising prices in the Capital on Wednesday ensured more money for the Delhi Metro.
According to Delhi Metro officials, about 47,000 more people travelled by the metro rail on Wednesday compared with the previous day.
The ridership was 8.53 lakh till 8 p.m. on Tuesday and the figure rose to 9.10 lakh on Wednesday.
The increase in ridership meant Rs.10 lakh more for DMRC.
Unclaimed box
Meanwhile, a Delhi Metro train operator found an unclaimed lunch box containing currency on Tuesday night while driving the train from Jehangirpuri to Central Secretariat.
The lunch box contained currency worth Rs.1.64 lakh.
The train operator deposited the lunch box at the Lost & Found counter at the GTB Station where the contents of the lunch box were revealed. The officials then tracked the complaints of the day and finally managed to contact a person who had lodged a complaint about a missing lunch box.
“After verifying the claims, the man was returned the lunch box with the money intact,” said a Delhi Metro spokesperson.
