Rains hit vehicular traffic in Delhi

Vehicular movement was affected in some parts of the national capital on Tuesday as rains lashed the city resulting in water logging.

Traffic was affected in ITO, Connaught Place, Vikas Marg, Ashram, Dhaula Kuan and Ring Road due to the showers in the morning hours.

According to MeT Department, the city received 2.7 mm of rains between 8:30 and 5:30 pm. The rain guages measured 3 mm from midnight till 8:30 am.

The national capital has received 228.8 mm of rains after the onset of monsoon on July 5.

The showers brought down the maximum to a cool 29.2 degree Celsius while the minimum was recorded at 26.4 mm. The humidity was between 59 and 97 per cent.

The MCD received 25 complaints of water logging, one complaint of falling of trees and two complaints of building collapse.

“It took me 45 minutes to reach near Parliament Street from Connaught Place. The rains and construction works made the traffic horrible,” said Amar Siddique, an advertisement professional.
