Polygraph test plea gross misuse of law: Tytler

February 11, 2017 12:50 am | Updated 12:50 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Terming the CBI plea to conduct a polygraph test in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case “a gross misuse of law”, Congress leader Jagdish Tytler on Friday submitted before a court here that no reason had been given to subject him to the examination.

Mr. Tytler said this in an application filed through his lawyer. He did not appear before the court as directed. His lawyer further said that the plea for lie detector test had been sought with mala fide intention.

Alleged arms dealer Abhishek Verma appeared before the court in person and submitted that he stood by his statement recorded by the CBI and was ready to join the investigation.

‘No reason for test’

He also alleged that the investigating agency had not cited any reason to conduct the test on him. However, he offered to record his statement before a Metropolitan Magistrate as well.
