Already convicted in two cases of sexual abuse of minor girls, a man was arrested while he was trying to lure a four-year-old girl in Vijay Vihar here, said the Delhi police on Monday. The accused was identified as Naresh a resident of Vijay Vihar.
“We have arrested a paedophile identified as Naresh who used to kidnap little girls and abuse them sexually. Today (Monday) he was caught trying to lure a four-year-old girl,” said DCP (Rohini District) M.N Tiwari.
Girl was with mother
Mr. Tiwari said at about 11.12 a.m, a PCR Call was received at Vijay Vihar police station regarding the kidnapping of a minor girl. The investigating officer Virender Singh along with staff rushed to the spot.
“The girl was with the accused when we arrested him. The mother of the girl reported that she used to iron clothes in Rohini. Her daughter was playing a few metres from where she was at the time of the incident. As the mother was distracted, the accused tried to take the girl away,” said another police officer. However, it caught the attention of the mother, who raised an alarm. Upon this, the public caught hold of the accused and made the PCR Call.
Confesses to crime
An FIR was registered in Vijay Vihar police station for kidnapping and under provisions of Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The police further claimed that the accused confessed to the crime when questioned and also disclosed that he is a bootlegger and was previously involved in two similar cases, for which he was convicted in 2014.
He was granted bail by the Delhi High Court last April. Further investigation is on to identify more victims.
