MCD polls for vacant posts on May 20, 21

Elections to the posts of chairman, deputy chairman and members of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi from Ward Committees where vacancies exists will be held May 20 and 21.

The elections will be held at the meeting of the respective Ward Committees at the MCD headquarters in Town Hall. The last date for filling of nomination is May 17.

The elections to the Ward Committees of Sadar Pahar Ganj, Central, Rohini, City Zone, Shahdara North and South Zones will take place on May 20, while those for the Ward Committees in Civil Lines, Najafgarh, Karol Bagh, West Zone, Shahdara South and Narela Zoneswould be held on May 21.

An MCD official said: “Since six members have retired from the membership of the Standing Committee, the elections to the posts from these Ward Committees will also take place. The process should be over in a month.” The six retiring members are Sunil Kakkar from Sadar Pahar Ganj Zone, Khavinder Singh Captain from Central Zone, Meera Aggarwal from Rohini Zone, Mahamood Zia from City Zone, Mehak Singh from Shahdara North Zone and Rampal Yadav from South Zone.
