The Delhi Government has directed all departments and agencies concerned to expedite the process of regularisation of unauthorised colonies which were issued provisional regularisation certificates.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the Delhi Development Authority, the Forest Department and the Archaeological Survey of India have been asked to effectively coordinate their efforts to take the process to the final stage.
The instructions were issued at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday. State Urban Development Minister A. K. Walia, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary P. K. Tripathi, MCD Commissioner K. S. Mehra and other senior officials from other departments were present.
It was decided to seek an extension of 18 months from the Lieutenant-Governor for completion of the process assigned to the Urban Development Department as nearly six months were lost due to two elections, incomplete layouts submitted by residents’ welfare associations and delay in submission of survey reports and final demarcation by the agencies concerned.
At the meeting, it was also decided to take the final step to regularise colonies that have been cleared from all angles. Cases of 511 colonies will be taken up to for the final stage after submission of layout plans by the MCD.
