The Union Home Ministry has termed the Commission of Inquiry constituted by the Delhi Government to probe the irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) as null and void. The Centre, in its letter sent to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, has said that the Commission of Inquiry is invalid, as Delhi was not a full state.
The Delhi government has sought the resignation of Finance minister Arun Jaitley on the ground that several financial irregularities took place in the cricket body when Mr. Jaitley was its chairperson.
LG Najeeb Jung had asked the Centre for its opinion on the Commission of Inquiry, following which the Centre replied on Thursday that it was null and void and Delhi government had no power to conduct such an inquiry.
Delhi government has appointed former Solicitor General Gopal Subramaniam to head the probe panel.
