Businessmen brothers killed at warehouse in Kashmere Gate

Two brothers, both businessmen who owned a popular vehicle accessory store, were found murdered at their warehouse in north Delhi’s Kashmere Gate on Saturday evening.

Servants under scanner

A senior police officer said that investigation, though still open-ended, revolved around the role of the four servants employed by the siblings. Of these, one is in custody, while another is away on leave. The other two are yet to be traced.

Multiple stab wounds

Identified as Rajkumar, 60, and his brother Devendra Manchanda, 53, the victims were residents of Rohini in north-west Delhi. They were reported dead — with their throats slit and multiple stab wounds on their bodies — through a call made to the police at 7:45 p.m.

The bodies were discovered in the warehouse located in the Door Wali gali in Mori Gate. They were subsequently rushed to a hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

According to the police, the victims’ family, which was waiting for them to return home early to participate in a religious function, sensed something amiss when neither of them picked up or returned calls. Soon after, some family members arrived at the warehouse, making enquiries from locals even as they kept trying to contact the deceased.

Meanwhile, one relative heard Rajkumar’s phone ringing from inside the warehouse, after which the police were informed.

Later, the police local shopkeepers broke the gate, leading to the discovery of the corpses. A forensic team was then sent to the spot to gather clues.

Probe on

An officer said the case was being investigated from all plausible angles, which included personal enmity as no visible signs of ransacking or vandalism were visible. The number and nature of injuries the victims were subjected to pointed to the latter as a motive, the police said.
