Former bureaucrat Anil Baijal was sworn in as Delhi’s Lieutenant-Governor on Saturday, just over a week after Najeeb Jung resigned from the post.
Mr. Baijal, an IAS officer from the 1969 batch, was administrated the oath of office and secrecy by Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court G. Rohini in the presence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Cabinet. Speaker of the Delhi Assembly Ram Niwas Goel and MLAs from the Aam Aadmi Party as well as the BJP were present at the swearing-in ceremony that took place at Raj Niwas.
Mr. Baijal had served as Home Secretary in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government and was now associated with the Vivekananda International Foundation.
