Seven persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement in robbing people returning in a bus from a wedding party.
The police reconstructed the sequence of events and marked out three separate zones -- the area where the bus was replaced, the Devli turn and the place where the vehicle was accosted for carrying out-minute search -- for clues.
While scouting the area, the team got inputs about an unattended auto-rickshaw, a few metres away from where the bus passengers were robbed.
Missing auto complaint
Also the police were informed by one Raj Kumar that his auto-rickshaw had been missing.
When the police asked Kumar to join the probe, he did not turn up and switched off his cell phone. He was later traced as the police analysed his call detail records. Upon being confronted, Kumar broke down and confessed to his involvement. Other accused were arrested based on his inputs, the police said. Kumar, during interrogation, said he had received information about the “baraat” bus returning late night from Swaroop Nagar and he and his associates hatched a conspiracy to loot the passengers.
