Four persons were allegedly robbed of ₹39 lakh at gunpoint in central Delhi’s Ranjeet Nagar on Wednesday morning, the police said.

They said that a case has been registered and teams have been making efforts to nab the accused.

A senior police officer privy to the case said that the PCR received a call around 10.30 a.m. regarding an incident of armed robbery.

When the police reached the spot, they were told by the victims that the four of them were travelling in a private vehicle when they were robbed of ₹39 lakh.

“Four persons who work for a company which collects cash from various shops had just left a shop, when, they said, two to three persons on a motorcycle stopped their vehicle. The accused allegedly fired two rounds, snatched the bag, which had the cash in it and fled the spot,” the officer said.

The entire robbery took place in less than two minutes, the victims told the police.

One of the bullets had hit the steering and another hit the window of the victims’ car, the police said, adding that no person sustained injuries in the incident.

The police also said that a case under Sections 392 (punishment for robbery), 397 (robbery, or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt), 34 (common intention) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Arms Act has been registered and teams have been formed to work on the case.
