Four persons, including a 12-year-old girl, sustained bullet injuries after a group of men indulged in indiscriminate firing in east Delhi's Krishna Nagar late Monday night.
The assailants included eight to 10 men who were drinking and gambling at a property dealer's office in Krishna Nagar's Jheel Road area around 11 p.m., said police.
"One of them went out to a nearby dhaba and demanded rotis. His behaviour offended a chef there and that led to a confrontation. The man replied by opening fire which angered the locals," said B.S. Gurjar, DCP (East).
Over 200 persons subsequently soon gathered and retaliated by pelting stones at the office building in which the drunken men were present. Cornered in the locality, the men resorted to indiscriminate firing at the public in a bid to escape.
A girl was among four persons injured in the firing. The commotion also led to another person falling and getting injured. They were all admitted to Dr. Hedgewar Hospital from where they were referred to Max Hospital.
Meanwhile, the commotion provided the assailants an escape route from the locality. Police said they have identified some of them and efforts are on to arrest them.
