A radiologist and three others have been booked for allegedly conducting prenatal sex-determination tests at her clinic in south Delhi’s Jangpura. The ultrasound machine has also been sealed.

The police received a tip-off from officials in Haryana’s Sonipat district about the clinic staff members allegedly conducting the illegal test. The police sent a pregnant woman as decoy on Saturday. The radiologist’s assistants were conducting her ultrasound when the police raided the clinic. The raid was conducted by officials of Delhi and Haryana Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques cells.

Clinic owner radiologist Charu Kohli is travelling abroad. An MBBS sonologist and two others, who were in the clinic at the time of the raid, have been booked.

Delhi PC-PNDT programme officer Satyajit Kumar said the clinic was registered with them. “An FIR has been registered under the PC-PNDT Act. We have also submitted an inspection report to the District Magistrate,” he said.
