Two inter-State modules supplying illegal arms and ammunition have been busted and four persons arrested in connection with the case, the police said on Thursday.

DCP (Special Cell) P.S. Kushwah said that the accused have been identified as Bachchu Singh (55), Ajay Salve (35), Ranjit Singh alias Neetu Jaat (55) and Nakshe Lal (21).

The police said that an information was received in the last week of April that Bachchu Singh, a resident of UP’s Aligarh and supplier of illegal arms, would come to Delhi after which a trap was laid and he, along with his accomplice Ajay Salve, was arrested from near Mathura Road on Monday. “A total of 35 pistols and 60 live cartridges were seized from their possession,” Mr. Kushwah said.

The police said that it was found that Bachchu was released from MP’s Khargone jail in November 2018 and is involved in at least seven heinous crime cases in UP and MP. “He had also opened his own illegal arms factory in his village but those were busted twice by the local police after which he started procuring firearms from Khargone to sell in western UP and Delhi,” the DCP said. Ajay was his carrier and used to charge per pistol to transport the weapons from MP to other places. He has come to Delhi twice.

The police also received an information that one Neetu Jaat of Rajasthan was supplying arms to local criminals in UP, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi-NCR. A trap was laid in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday and he was arrested from Sarai Kale Khan, the police said, adding that 20 pistols were seized from his possession.

During interrogation, he told the police that he procured arms from Nakshe in UP’s Mainpuri who was subsequently arrested on Wednesday from near Mainpuri Bus Terminus, Mr. Kushwah said, adding that nine pistols were seized from him. The police said that Neetu has been supplying arms for the last five years and is involved in several criminal cases.
