Three police officers — an assistant sub-inspector and two constables — have been suspended and a departmental inquiry ordered against them after a 30-year-old alleged that they had beaten him up on May 18 in Rohini’s Prashant Vihar police station.

“One ASI and two constables have been sent to district lines and placed under suspension. A departmental enquiry has been ordered against them,” said DCP (Rohini) Rishi Pal.

The victim Amit Gupta alleged that he was brutally beaten by the policemen after his car brushed against their bike and they fell off. He alleged that they beat him through the night and let him off after he paid them a hefty amount.

Mr. Gupta was then taken to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital.

The police had said that the victim was inebriated and got an “abrasion on his arm” while stepping out his car.
