The body of a 29-year-old man, who is suspected to have died of asphyxiation, was recovered from a Congress campaign vehicle in Central Delhi on Saturday evening, the police said.
Identifying the victim as Deepak, who was a resident of Meerut, the police said that they found his body locked in the rear of one of the Congress’ recently-launched campaign vehicles.
“He was last seen campaigning for Prahlad Singh Sawhney, the Congress’ candidate from Chandni Chowk , near the latter’s residence in Civil Lines,” said a police officer. According to the police, Deepak was employed as a technician for LCD screens installed in the said campaign vehicle.
The vehicle’s driver told the police that Deepak had fallen asleep in the rear after dinner when the vehicle was parked near Daryaganj.
“When the driver opened the door, he saw Deepak lying unconscious and a small bruise on his forehead. He then informed the local police who rushed him to the Lok Nayak Hospital where he was declared dead by doctors,” the officer said.
