2,700 power theft cases settled

Over 2,700 cases of power theft cases from east and central Delhi were settled over the weekend, BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) said on Monday.

As per a statement, the discom held two public hearings on January 14 and 15 with the help of the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) to settle the over 2,700 cases of power theft, amounting to ₹20 crore.

The cases pertained to both direct theft and meter tampering, and were either pending in a court or yet to be taken up by any court.

Apart from the on-the-spot settlement, customers who agreed to settle the dues within seven days were given more benefits.
