22-year-old Delhi girl raped in Gurgaon

A minor and a young woman were raped in two separate cases in Gurgaon on Tuesday.

A 22-year-old Delhi resident was allegedly raped in a hotel in the Civil Lines area in the early hours of Tuesday. The accused, Navratan Singh, a resident of Jharsa village, had met the victim on a social networking site last month. They became friends and exchanged contact details.

“The accused called the victim on Tuesday and invited her to a hotel where he raped her. She later managed to escape and reported the matter to the police. The accused has been arrested,” said Gurgaon Police Chief PRO Assistant Commissinoer of Police Rajesh Chechi.

In another case, a seven-year-old was abducted and raped by an unidentified man. The culprit abducted the girl while she was playing outside her house with her friends on Tuesday afternoon. The victim, a resident of West Bengal, lives in a rented accommodation in Wazirabad village with her family. Her mother works in a hotel in the housekeeping department. A case has been registered at the Sushant Lok police station in this connection.
